2-15-09 HFHS Varsity fell to Sacred Heart by six points, missing the playoffs but closing out a much improved regular season with bright hopes for the future.

2-13-09 HFHS JV Basketball finished the season 6-2, defeating Alverno 27-20 last Wednesday. JV is co-champions with Sacred Heart and San Gabriel Mission. Varsity lost to Alverno last Wednesday but still has a chance for the 3rd and final playoff berth. Varsity plays Sacred Heart, also 4-4, today at 7pm.

2-9-09 HFHS JV Basketball is now 5-2. We lost to San Gabriel Mission on January 31 by 23 points. Varsity won their game, again, continuing the reverse trend. On Tuesday, February 3, the JVs studied hard for their rematch against San Gabriel Mission and edged the Pioneers by two, 32-30. Varsity started a new type of trend by winning 38-30. On Saturday, February 7, both teams won again against Bishop Conaty. Varsity snapped Bishop 31-game Horizon winning streak. Bishop Conaty, 7-1 this year, has been undefeated in league play for the past three years. This year would have made it four but Holy Family worked hard to see to it that it did not happen. Next up is Alverno on Wednesday, February 11 where the JVs go for a 6-2 record, and Varsity goes for a playoff berth and a 2nd place Horizon league finish.

2-9-09 Check out the January issue of “The Chess Parent.” If you would like to subscribe please send me an email

1-30-09 HFHS JV Basketball is 3-1 winning the last two games against Bishop Conaty (32-19), and Sacred Heart (34-29). Varisty continues the reverse trend, losing to Bishop >Conaty by 6 points, and to Sacred Heart by 3 points. Next up is San Gabriel Mission this Saturday, January 31 at Pacific Park in Glendale.

1-16-09 Horizon League is underway and HFHS JV Basketball is 1-1 losing to Sacred Heart on Jan. 6 by 6 points and winning against Alverno on Jan. 14 by 5 points. Varsity, on the other hand, won against Sacred Heart by 5 points and lost to Alverno by 6 points. Talk about a complete reversal. Our next stop is Bishop Conaty on January 20.

12-23-08 Holy Family High School JV Basketball’s record is 2-1 to finish the pre-season with a winning percentage. Varsity Basketball finished the pre-season with a 3-6 record, playing some really tough teams along the way. Not to worry… a good beating simply serves to expose your weaknesses so you can improve for the next game. We look forward to JV and Varsity’s season opener against Sacred Heart of Jesus on January 6, 2009!
